You enter the quest area from the portal room here:

Once you enter the quest teleport, you will enter a room with the NPC Illusionist. There is also a teleport in the same room. 

DO NOT ENTER THE TELEPORT BEFORE SPEAKING WITH NPC!

In order to complete the quest, speak to the NPC!

Once you have received your mission, walk north and enter the teleport. You will be teleported into a hallway with many demons. However, these demons are weak and do almost no damage. Kill them and progress through the hallway.

Enter the final teleport and open the chest.
